ACE vs. Angi for Roofers: Which Gets You More Inspections?

Angi (formerly Angie's List) sends the same homeowner's request to several roofers, so you're racing other companies to the phone and competing on price. ACE does the opposite: it finds homeowners in your area who are likely to need a roof and gets them to respond to your company, so the conversation starts with you. For most roofers, ACE gets you more inspections that are actually yours. Angi still makes sense if you want quick volume and have a phone team that calls back in minutes.

Quick answer

Angi sends the same homeowner to several roofers. ACE gets homeowners to respond to you. Here's an honest side-by-side, and when Angi is still the better pick.

We make ACE, so read this with that in mind. We've tried to be fair to Angi, including when it's the better pick. Details on Angi are as of October 2026 and can change, so check with Angi directly.

The short answer

  • Pick ACE if you want homeowners who aren't hearing from three other roofers, you work no-soliciting or gated neighborhoods, or you want to pay for real actions instead of names.
  • Pick Angi if you need leads this week, do a lot of small repairs, and have someone ready to call every lead within minutes.
  • Many roofers use both: Angi for fast volume, ACE for homeowners who are yours.

Difference 1: shared vs. yours

On Angi, a homeowner fills out one request and it often goes to several roofing companies. Whoever calls first usually gets the first conversation, and the homeowner is comparing quotes from the start.

With ACE, each homeowner gets a personal offer from your company. When they respond, they're responding to you, not a marketplace. There's no race.

Difference 2: waiting vs. reaching

Angi only works when a homeowner decides to go looking and fills out a form. That's a small slice of the people in your area who need a roof.

ACE goes out and finds them. It looks for homeowners in your area who show signs they need a roof, then reaches them by mail, text and email. That includes no-soliciting and gated neighborhoods you can't knock, and whole neighborhoods after a hailstorm.

Difference 3: paying for names vs. paying for actions

On Angi, you're charged for leads that match your settings, whether or not the homeowner ever picks up. There's also a yearly membership fee.

With ACE, homeowners can unlock a real gift card, like a coffee or lunch on you, for watching a short video about your company. The video can't be skipped, the sound has to be on, and the reward unlocks after 75% is watched. A second reward can unlock when they book, for example $20 for watching and $30 for booking. You pay for verified actions like those, not for names.

What Angi really costs

Angi doesn't publish one price list, but here's what's been reported in 2026:

  • Per lead: about $15 to $85 per matched lead, depending on job type and market.
  • Membership: a yearly fee of about $300.
  • Angi Ads (optional): paid profile promotion, reported at $300 or more per month.

You're charged when a lead matches your settings, and you can't pick individual leads before you pay. HomeAdvisor, which is part of the same company, has said each of its leads goes to no more than three other pros.

What a booked inspection costs (made-up numbers to show the math)

If a shared lead costs $50 and 1 in 12 books an inspection, that's $50 ÷ 0.083 = about $600 per booked inspection, before the membership fee. Because several roofers are calling the same homeowner, fewer leads book.

With ACE, you pay for verified actions, like a homeowner watching your video or booking, instead of names that may never answer. On a free call, we'll walk through what that looks like in your market.

Difference 4: price shoppers vs. homeowners who already know you

Homeowners on Angi are shown several roofers, so many are shopping on price. With ACE, the homeowner has already watched a video about your company before you ever talk, so you start the call as someone they know. Our call scripts are built for exactly that moment.

Difference 5: the rules

In Florida, roofers can't offer anything of value for a roof inspection or an insurance claim. ACE's Florida campaigns only reward watching the video. This is how we set up campaigns, not legal advice.

It's also worth knowing Angi's history. In January 2023, the FTC announced an order requiring HomeAdvisor, an Angi company, to pay up to $7.2 million over alleged misrepresentations to contractors about the quality of its leads. HomeAdvisor did not admit wrongdoing. You can read the FTC announcement coverage for details.

Questions to ask Angi before you sign

  • How many other roofers get each lead in my area?
  • What's the exact price per lead for roof replacements versus repairs?
  • How does the membership renew, and how do I cancel?
  • What's the process for getting credit on a bad or fake lead?
  • Is Angi Ads a separate contract? How long is it?
  • Can I pause leads during busy weeks?

When Angi is the better pick

  • You need jobs this week. Angi can start sending leads in days. ACE campaigns take 2–3 weeks to launch.
  • You do a lot of small repairs. Angi has plenty of small, quick jobs.
  • You have a fast phone team. If someone calls every lead within minutes, you can win your share.

Using both

Plenty of roofers keep Angi for quick volume and add ACE to reach the homeowners Angi never sees. ACE can also bring back old estimates that went quiet, including ones that first came from Angi.

What we've seen

About 9% of homeowners activate in ACE roofing campaigns, and one homeowner went from a direct mail offer to a booked roof inspection in 20 minutes. Good Faith Roofing is one of the roofers using ACE. These are past results, not a promise for your market.

When ACE isn't the right fit

  • You need leads tomorrow. Campaigns take 2–3 weeks to launch.
  • You won't call homeowners back. ACE shows you who engaged; you still have to call.
  • You only do commercial roofing. ACE works best reaching homeowners.

Frequently asked questions

Is Angi worth it for roofers?

It can be if you want quick volume and call every lead within minutes. Leads are often shared with other roofers, so speed and price matter a lot.

Are Angi leads shared with other roofers?

Often, yes. A homeowner's request can go to several roofing companies at once.

Is Angi the same as HomeAdvisor and Angie's List?

Angie's List rebranded as Angi, and HomeAdvisor is part of the same company.

What's the best alternative to Angi for roofers?

For most roofers, we think ACE, because homeowners respond to your company instead of a shared request. Google Local Services Ads is another good option for people already searching.

Can I use ACE and Angi together?

Yes. Many roofers use Angi for fast volume and ACE to reach homeowners who never fill out a form.

How fast can I start?

Angi can start in days. ACE campaigns take 2–3 weeks to launch.

How much do Angi leads cost for roofers?

Reported prices are about $15 to $85 per lead in 2026, plus a yearly membership of about $300. Angi doesn't publish one standard price list.

Does Angi charge a membership fee?

Yes. Pros report a yearly membership of about $300, plus per-lead charges. Optional Angi Ads cost extra.

How many roofers get each Angi lead?

It varies. Angi often sends a request to several pros, and HomeAdvisor has said each of its leads goes to no more than three other pros.

Can I get credit for bad Angi leads?

Ask Angi for its current dispute and credit process in writing before you sign, since policies can change.
